1001 Black Men
The 1001 Black Men online sketchbook is a collection of portraits created between 2010 and 2017. This series of drawings pushes past entrenched stereotypes depict the complexity of Black men’s lives in my home city of Oakland, throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and in all of the cities I visited during the 6.5-year span of this project.
Bay Area Heart and Soul
If artists are the heart of the Bay Area, then Black people are certainly its soul. Bay Area Heart and Soul is a portrait diary and blog that uses drawings of the region’s diverse community of artists of African descent to create a snapshot of our work and our lives in this moment of rapid transition.
